Mick Ansell Memorial Trophy

As a testament to his popularity, 28 golfers turned up on a hot, but overcast, day to compete for the Mick Ansell Memorial Trophy, Messages were also received from those who where unable to attend on the day. 'Oily' also exerted his influence; although the day started with threatening clouds it did not rain, and the sun eventually burst through.
Once again admirable patience was shown by all as we got 8 groups away from the 1st tee; our thanks for that.  There were no reports of great rounds, amazing shots or miracle recoveries although within our group Mark Vesty did his best to help the golfers following us. Three times his putts hit the hole with such velocity the hole must surely have increased in size, and on a fourth occasion he gave the flagstick a good rattle from just off the green. Mark, your line is perfect, you just have to work on the pace a bit more!
It was good to see so many new faces at the event, we hope you enjoyed your day. Why not join us on a regular basis, you are most welcome.
After the golf all congregated in the 19th for some refreshment and the prize giving; following which the assembled group made their way to Leo's Bar for a buffet (and some more 'refreshment').  We also said 'Cheerio' to Mick Shrosbree who is returning to the UK (thanks for your support from the beginning, Mick)
Our thanks are extended to Mark Vesty and Glenn Hadden for helping to organise the day; also, Oily's employers for the trophy and buffet, and Leo's Bar for donating prizes.
Congratulations to all for making the day such a success, this will now become a regular event in our calendar.

Below is a photo of the assembled group, and notification and photos of our winners are shown on the right.

Cheers Oily
